The Club runs a range of events, both of a social and a tennis nature.
Social "mix-in" nights are organized throughout the year and, as an important part of the Club's programme; courts are set-aside for these evenings.
No pre-booking is required, nor the need to bring a partner and tennis balls are provided by the Club.
Monday 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Thursday 7 p.m.-10 p.m.
The Club Coach and his assistants run these sessions.
Any member is welcome to attend the relevant club session, at anytime, and be "mixed-in" with other players.
Short sets are played (i.e. first to six games, tie-break at five-all) or, when busy, timed sets.
At certain times of the year, there may be an additional small charge for floodlights (advertised in advance); otherwise these sessions are provided free of charge.
Courts that are not pre-booked for organised events are available for Senior Members to book.
There is no charge for this facility - although there are controls over how many courts an individual is able to book at one time.
For those who prefer social mix-in tennis there are courts set aside for this purpose on Saturday afternoons,
and Wednesday mornings.
If a court is free and has not been pre-booked then any member may make use of this court.
The Club runs a range of tennis competitions for Senior members throughout the year.
The diary lists the known scheduled senior events for the coming months - additional events will be added as the season progresses.
The Club offers plenty of opportunity for the better player to play against other clubs at both Junior and Senior level.
The Club enters four men's and four ladies' teams in the North- East Cheshire League, playing matches between April and July.
The Club enters five mixed teams in the N.E. Cheshire Winter League. This runs from October - March. Further details of the dates etc. will be posted in September.
Besides the above league matches, the Club also enters several other inter-Club knockout competitions. The dates for these will be published when known (and dependent upon the success of the teams involved).
The Club runs a Handicap and Level Tournament for members during the summer months - climaxing in Senior Finals day.
A number of other competitions are run throughout the year, some are based on Colour Ratings (run by the Club Coach) and others are open draws.
The Leagues are run on a ladder basis (singles and doubles) and are designed to provide friendly competition between players of similar ability, independent of gender. Leagues are reviewed every 5-6 weeks to allow for regular promotion and relegation, depending on results. This regular review provides plenty of opportunity to meet and play other members of the Club of a similar standard. New players may join the leagues at any time and will be slotted in at their appropriate level. A sign-up sheet can be found on the notice board next to the leagues.
A modest prize will be awarded to the player who accumulates most points from the singles and/or doubles events over the course of the year.
The Summer Leagues run from May to September and are run primarily for the benefit of Seniors not selected for the Club teams. Team players may enter the event provided they can meet their commitments to all the events in which they are involved.
The Floodlit Leagues run from October to April and are open to all Seniors and Junior FPRs.
Tennis is best enjoyed with similar standard players.
In order to provide this in organised events and activities, the Club has a Club Rating System to help identify all
members' playing standards. This allows for better seeding and drawing of players in club events, as well as assisting
players looking to make contact with other players of similar standard. The Ratings are not an exact science, but a
general guideline to the playing standard within our own Club system.
Colour Ratings are flexible and are maintained by the Club Coaches
